Wildfire Hazard – Before Project |
Desired Result – After Project |
The Lake County Office of Emergency Management would like to
remind property owners in the county that funding remains
available for the purpose of reducing wildfire risk to your
property by assisting with hazardous fuels reduction.
Grants
have been obtained to assist property owners with projects as
thinning, pruning, piling, burning, chipping, and/or mulching in
areas where hazardous fuel conditions warrant or where there are
forest insect and disease issues. Generally, qualifying
applicants pay 25% of the cost of treatment, with the grants
picking up the remaining 75%.
Winter, Spring, and Fall are the best times to apply to reduce
wildfire risk to your property; prior to the wildfire season. If
you are interested in applying for funding to reduce the
hazardous fuels on your property, information is available by
calling the Fuel Reduction Coordinator with the Lake County
Office of Emergency Management at 883-6999.
