As per the request of our customers Lake County Treasurer is
now accepting credit cards for the payment of property taxes and
vehicle licensing.
Registration fees may be paid with a credit card by calling
406-883-7217. A $6 convenience fee plus postage will be charged by
Lake County in accordance with Title 7, Chapter 5 Montana Codes
Annotated.
The following information is required in order for you to
receive an estimate to renew or to title and register a recently
acquired vehicle. All the information listed must be provided.
For a renewal, all information required will be on the vehicle
registration and/or on the vehicle itself. Please be thorough and
precise regarding the vehicle identification number, many numbers
and letters can be mistaken for another.
For a vehicle you have recently acquired, your dealer, if one was
involved, can provide the information required. If there was no
dealer involved, you can search the vehicle title or the vehicle
itself. Once again, please be very precise with the vehicle
identification number.
Information required for a renewal:
- Vehicle year
- Vehicle make and model i.e.: Ford Taurus, Dodge Dakota, and
Chevy Venture etc.
- Tonnage (if a pick-up, large truck, cargo van)
- Plate number
- Vehicle identification number (most generally found on the
dash near the windshield on the driver side)
Information required for a recently acquired vehicle:
- Vehicle Year
- Vehicle make and model i.e.: Ford Taurus, Dodge Dakota, and
Chevy Venture etc.
- Tonnage (if a pick-up, large truck, cargo van)
- Vehicle identification number (most generally found on the
dash near the windshield on the driver side)
- Title number if the vehicle is already titled in the State
of Montana
Please be aware that this is just an approximate estimate.
Due to the large amount of variables involved, an exact estimate
is impossible. NO EXEMPTION has been included in this estimate.
When you are ready to complete the desired transaction, please
include a copy of this estimate. The information it contains will
be helpful to us, and may shorten the length of time it will take
to process your transaction.
