Sheriff’s Administration
The Sheriff’s Administration is staffed by the Sheriff, Undersheriff, Patrol Captain, Detective Captain, Detention Captain, Dispatch Manager and one support staff. The Staff is responsible for overseeing the various daily operational task and duties of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s administration is responsible for processing all concealed weapon applications for Lake County. This includes background checks and actual issuance of the permit.
Sheriff’s administration is responsible for a detention facility that can house up to 42 inmates. The detention officers also transport prisoners between various facilities.
Sheriff’s administration is responsible for the operations of the dispatch center for Lake County. They dispatch most of the law enforcement, fire, and medical response units for the county. This does not include the tribal organizations.
The Sheriff’s Office utilizes the Public Safety Mill Levy and presently administers a budget in excess of 3 million dollars. Budgeted costs are focused in the areas of communications, inmate medical services, vehicle fleet management and internal staffing, with the first and foremost priority of ensuring that the basic law enforcement services are adequately maintained to meet the statutory duties of the sheriff.
The Sheriff’s Office currently is staffed by seventy-three employees consisting of 25 sworn and more than 30 civilian non-sworn personnel filling the positions of detention and support staff.
The Sheriff’s Office presently manages and was awarded the following grants: 2011 Justice Assistance Grant and participates in the State of Montana STEP grant for extra DUI enforcement. |
