THE CHANCE OF A LIFE TIME!!!!!
LAKE COUNTY SCHOOL HISTORIES,
VOLUMES I & II
If
you or any of your family went to school in Lake County, this is
your opportunity to pass on your history to your children,
grandchildren, and future generations. Over 500 people have
collaborated with the Lake County Superintendent of Schools Joyce
Decker Wegner and the Lake County Country School Historians to
gather stories, photos, oral and written histories, and documents
to write LAKE COUNTY SCHOOL HISTORIES, VOLUMES I & II.
Each volume will contain over two hundred large pages with
numerous pictures never printed before. Volume I covers Ronan
Pablo to the south, what was once Missoula County. Volume II
covers from Polson to the north, what was Flathead County. You may
see some
Lake County’s Rural Schools
on Polson’s website.
You may place your order now. Each volume sells for $25 apiece, or
if you buy multiple copies, the price is reduced to $20 per book.
You can pick up the books at the Superintendent of Schools office
or we will ship your books for $3 per book. The County
Superintendent is currently directing the final edits, in addition
to her elected responsibilities, so the pace is slow, but please
be patient as your preorder will assist the Flathead Reservation
Area Historical Society with publication costs. We promise a
wonderful historic work that will be a valuable resource for local
history.
It is the
goal of the
Flathead Reservation Area Historical Society
to assist all the residents of the Reservation in understanding
their collective past in order for them to work together in
achieving a better future in a neutral arena in which to present
the facts in a fair and impartial manner.
The Society
gathers and preserves historical data, i.e. printed documents,
oral histories, photos etc., along with any artifacts or other
objects which may be of historical significance; sponsors public
history forums, publishes books, or other media pertinent to the
Reservations history; and has developed a
Flathead Reservation Timeline website.
Whenever possible, these historical materials will be made
available to the public through local schools, libraries, the
Montana Heritage Project , and local
museums like
Miracle of America,
Ninepipes Museum, and
The People’s Center.
Membership fees,
contributions and the sale of the publications generate the
revenue to support the FRA Historical Society activities.
Anyone interested in Reservation history is invited to be a
member. Annual individual memberships are $25, annual
business memberships are $100 and Charter Memberships are $1,000.
Charter Membership revenues are placed in a Permanent Endowment,
which will be used to pay for creating various kinds of Society
publications. This revolving fund will be replenished by
sales of the publications. Authorized persons and entities
may take fifty cents of every dollar contributed to the Permanent
Endowment as a credit against Montana Income Tax. Also, a
charitable deduction may be taken for Federal Income Tax purposes
for contributions to the Endowment.
