Lake County Planning Department
 The Planning Department administers a number of current & long range planning programs for Lake County.
 Subdivision review.
Subdivision exemption claim examinations in conjunction with the Lake County Exemption Review Committee (E.R.C.).
Survey review and routing (certificates of survey, subdivision plats, and amended plats).

 The Planning Department is located on the 3rd floor of the Lake County Courthouse, at the offices of Environmental Health and Planning. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The department & courthouse are closed on county-recognized holidays.

Staff and general duties:
All staff members assist with implementation of Planning Department administration & functions to promote responsible development, growth, & land uses in Lake County.
Joel Nelson: Planning Director, Planner, and Floodplain Administrator
Joel manages the staff and oversees all Planning Department administration & functions. In addition, he has the primary responsibility for implementation of the following Planning Department functions:
 General long-range planning; - Developing & reviewing new planning regulations and regulation updates, revisions, and amendments;
- Survey and subdivision exemption review and administration;
- County floodplain administration;
- Zoning administration;
- Capital improvements planning; and,
- Planning-related grants.
Joel facilitates the Planning Department’s activities to continually work closely with the Lake County Commissioners & other boards, other county departments, and other state, local, & Tribal governments to promote responsible development, growth, & land uses in Lake County.
LaDana Hintz, Planner
LaDana assists the public with planning programs, administers regulations under the purview of the Planning Department, and reviews applications related to subdivisions, lakeshore construction, floodplain development, & zoning conformance.
Karl E. Smithback, Planner
Karl assists the public with planning programs, administers regulations under the purview of the Planning Department, and reviews applications related to subdivisions, lakeshore construction, floodplain development, & zoning conformance.
Robert Costa, Planner
Robert assists the public with planning programs, administers regulations under the purview of the Planning Department, and reviews applications related to subdivisions, lakeshore construction, floodplain development, & zoning conformance.
Lita Fonda, Administrative Assistant
Lita provides customer service and administrative support to the Planners, tracks surveys & applications, maintains records, and administers office activities.
