What is Public Health Home Visiting?

Public Health Home Visiting is a convenient service that provides visits in your home or another place by a nurse, social worker, and/or dietician for pregnant women and babies. Home Visitors can help you answer questions such as:
**How do I find community services and financial assistance?
**Where can I find information about pregnancy?
**What should I be feeding my baby?
**Is my child healthy and developmentally on track?
**How can I reduce the stress in my life?
**What supports are available to me during my pregnancy and as a parent?

How Public Health Home Visitors Can Help.

BEFORE your baby is born, a Home Visitor can help you with:
**Achieving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy
**Helpful hints during your pregnancy
**Understanding physical and emotional changes
**Finding pregnancy care and other community services
**Helping you prepare for your infant and for parental responsibilities

AFTER your baby is born a Home Visitor can help you with concerns you may have about yourself and your baby by providing:
**Information on breastfeeding
**Stages of development including developmental screening
**Child safety and childproofing your home
**Immunization information
**SIDS (crib death) prevention
**Parenting concerns
